ARTIST: Fred O. Smith

Since 1991, Fred O. Smith II of Farmington, Maine has been making his own unique antique line of furniture, which includes over 30 standard items and a choice of 10 finishes. He will also design you a customized piece based on your own personal needs.

Using solid pine boards has been his specialty, but on occasion he has made various cabinets from solid oak. Moreover, each piece that comes from his shop is signed and dated and according to Smith, "built to last into the 23rd century just as many 18th century cabinets are still in use today."

As a special order, his pieces can also be purchased unfinished, which has appealed to artists who have done their fine work on many of Smith's pine cabinets. Smith considers this perhaps the greatest compliment, when an artist considers his furniture worthy of their creative energy.
