SugarWood Gallery is home to the unusual in furniture, home furnishings, accessories and giftware. Opened in November 2001 in Farmington, Maine, the gallery is jointly owned by ten Maine artisans and wood product manufacturers. Native Woods - Artist: Gary Krauss. Some of the most beautiful cuts of wood are the 'Live-edge', or outside pieces of logs...but unfortunately these naturally shaped pieces have often been thought of as scrap and tossed aside. Appreciating the beauty of the under-utilized wood, I have turned these live-edge pieces into a unique line of frames and furniture. To further enhance the hidden character of the wood, I hand-rub multi-coats of natural oils and urethanes, culminating with a final polish of 2000 grit. MORE... Back to top.
